Our Vision
Who We Are
We are a congregation of approximately 200 members who live and worship in Sardis, British Columbia. The Canadian Reformed Churches are a small federation of just over sixty churches across Canada. By way of introduction, what follows is a summary of who we are and what we stand for.
Our Vision Statement
We exist by the grace of God, for His glory, and to enjoy Him forever. God’s grace and glory were fulfilled in the person and work of Jesus Christ, and we seek to know, live and share His gracious love.
To further this vision, we are a church focused upward, outward and forward.
Knowing God
“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” – John 17:3
Believing that God seeks us first, we love the Lord with all our heart, soul and mind, and cling to our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
We seek to do this by:
- ensuring public worship is guided by Biblical principles.
- encouraging continual household worship and prayer.
- promoting effective preaching and teaching within public worship, private homes and youth programs.
(Heb. 12: 28-29; Ps. 145:18; 1 Thess. 5:17; Acts 2: 42; James 3:1)
Loving Others
“By this everyone will know you are my disciples, if you love one another.” – John 13:35
By loving our neighbours as ourselves, we are united in the Spirit and so build up the bond of faith by living the love of Jesus Christ.
We seek to do this by:
- encouraging and equipping members to grow in character and develop their faith as disciples of Jesus Christ.
- reflecting the behaviours of the early church by engaging in life together through fellowship, prayer, generosity, sharing, learning, eating, celebrating, proclaiming the gospel and supporting each other.
- promoting accountability to one another, and unity between young and old, single and married, men and women, sick and well, demonstrating an awareness of the family of faith.
(Eccl. 4:12; 2 Peter 1:5-8, Titus 2:1-8; James 5:16; Acts 2: 42-47; Gal. 6:2; Ps. 133:1, 1 Cor. 1:10; James 5:16)
Sharing Hope
“We loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.” – 1 Thess. 2:8
Reflecting God’s grace, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we advance God’s kingdom by sharing the gospel of hope in Jesus Christ locally and abroad.
We seek to do this by:
- providing training in outreach and worldview to equip members to share the gospel with their neighbours.
- responding to community needs and encouraging engagement in community activities.
- encouraging generosity and compassion for those in need and for the spread of the gospel.
